Timebag is an independent project where unconventional spaces are temporarily used as venues for contemporary art.
In the 2019 version, I was invited to do a project in the iconic Nutibara hotel which is located in the touristic centre of Medellin, near one of the two big museums of the city, near multiple culturally relevant institutions and sites but also in a depressed area, where homelessness, drug trade, sex work, crime and violence are very present. The most fashionable hotel in Medellin has become quite a sordid location in those 74 years.

The seduction of degeneracy is an intriguing trope of fiction, a fascination that I was interested in bringing to my body of work. The installation took advantage of two rooms with mirrored floorplans to recreate a fictitious undefined catastrophe; it was impossible to know if there had been a fight, a party, a scandal or an orgy. The disarray contrasted with the meticulousness of the staged mess.
